the health of the lake

As I look out on the lake this morning I am seeing green algae on the water by our beach.  With the sewer project not passing, I am concerned.  We have seen a heavy growth of weeds in the lake this summer.  We need to address our problems before things get worse.  Everyone around the lake needs to do their part in controlling the nutrients going into the lake.  Leaving natural growth on land near the shore provides an important buffer zone.  Perhaps we should also think about using our annual membership dues to rent a weed cutter next summer.  Let’s get the dialogue going.  We are all in this together!

  1. I agree with Lloyd we have seen a tremendous growth of weeds coming from the inlet area around stevens brook.
I think removing weeds would help a lot.

  2. I too have seen quite a bit of the green algae lately. I think that rreducing the weeds would be a benefit to everyone using the lake. Renting a weed cutter (or hiring someone) once a year to control the weed growth would be money well spent.
